The Kindling

 Mentoring Program

"Side hustle" is not a description of your schedule.
It is a verdict you issued on your own worth.

You have been carrying a camera that changes the way people see themselves. You have been producing work that belongs on walls. You have clients who come back. And you are still calling it a side hustle. That is not humility. That is self-erasure with a softer name.

THE KINDLING

A 90-day business foundation program for the photographer who is done waiting for the right time and is ready to build the real thing.

By the end of 90 days, you will have run your first intentional portrait campaign, have a business plan built around your actual numbers, and know with full conviction what your business is, what it charges, and who it is built for.

This is not a course about posing or lighting. This is the business architecture you have been avoiding.

[ WHAT'S INSIDE ]

01 · BUSINESS FOUNDATION

The offer. The pricing. The model. The plan. Not theoretical. Built around the actual numbers that make your business work for your life. You leave with a baseline business plan that makes the path forward legible, not aspirational.

02 · MESSAGING

You have been describing your services. We are going to dismantle that and build something that converts. Your message will be built on what you actually believe, not what photographers are supposed to say. The difference in what clients say yes to is immediate.

03 · THE FIRST PORTRAIT CAMPAIGN

This is the deliverable. Your first $5,000 campaign, built, launched, and closed within 90 days. Not hypothetically. Actually. You will have done it before we are done. That experience is what your identity has been waiting for.

What you leave with:

  • A business plan. With your name on it and your numbers in it.
  • Pricing that does not apologize. Built for what the business actually needs to be sustainable.
  • Messaging that sounds like you. And converts like you mean it.

And the one thing no program can give you in theory: the experience of having done it.
That experience is the evidence your identity needs to stop asking whether you are allowed to be here.

The Problem

Here is what I see when I look at where you are right now:

You are not struggling because you lack talent. You have taken images that stopped people mid-scroll. You know how to hold a room. You know what a portrait is supposed to do to the person standing in front of it.

The gap between what you are capable of producing and what you are actually collecting is not a skill gap.

It is a structure gap. A clarity gap.
A "I do not actually know if this is a real business yet" gap.

You have been quoting prices that apologize. Posting content that hedges. Treating your
own business like a guest who might not be welcome to stay.
You have been waiting, without knowing exactly what you are waiting for, to be allowed to call this your business.
The problem is not your photography.
The problem is the floor you have been standing on.

the shift

You have been treating this like a side hustle because that is what it looked like without structure. Without a number it was working toward. Without a first campaign that proved to you and your market that this is real.

The kindling has been sitting there for years.

You just needed somewhere to light it.

WHO THIS IS FOR
The Kindling is for you if:

-> You have been doing this for one, two, three years and cannot honestly say "this is my business."
-> You have real talent and no structure to hold it.
-> You take what clients offer instead of naming what you require.
-> You have been "getting serious" for long enough that the phrase has lost its meaning.
-> You know you are capable of more than what you have been collecting.
-> You are done calling it a side hustle, and you are ready to build the thing.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

This is not the right container for everyone. Read this before you enroll:

If you are already booking consistently and the gap is identity, not infrastructure: that is EXPOSURE. The Kindling will not move you.

If you are ready for a six-month full build with 1:1 support included: that is In The Studio. The Kindling is not your next step.

Come to the right container. The Kindling is built for the beginning. If you are past the beginning, it will cost you time you do not have to spend.

Foundation to freedom was an amazing course. Cat is an incredible educator and truly cares about all of us succeeding not only in her course but also as photographers in everyday life. She is always there for us and willing to critique our work when asked and answer in detail any business question we may have. Her knowledge and passion is incredible and I am honored to have taken her class. It is well worth your time and money to dive into her course.

Cat Ford-Coates

Photographers: you built a real business. Real talent. Real clients. Real hours.

And still...the number doesn't match the work.

That's not a marketing problem. That's not a pricing problem. That's what happens when you've been building a business around being easy to work with instead of impossible to replace.

Cat Ford-Coates is the woman who says the thing.

Not to be provocative. Because she already knows where you're going and she's done watching you pretend you don't.

She doesn't develop photographers. She develops founders.

If you've known for a while that it was never just about the photos — you're home.
